China's industrial automation level has been greatly improved, with at least 300,000 more robots expected to be installed by 2020. From 2004 to 2014, the possession of industrial robots in China increased from 0.71 million to 189,400, and the global proportion of the possession increased from 0.84 percent to 12.79 percent. In 2014, the year-on-year growth rate reached 42.61 percent, much higher than the global average.
The degree of automation in China's manufacturing industry is still at a low level, and there is huge room for improvement. As an important indicator of industrial automation rate, the density of industrial robots in China in 2014 was only 36 robots per 10,000 people, far lower than Japan's 314 robots per 10,000 people and Germany's 2.92 robots per 10,000 people, only 55% of the international average level of 66 robots per 10,000 people, and about 9 times the growth space from the manufacturing power. By 2020, the density of robots should reach more than 100 robots per 10,000 people, which means huge room for improvement.
